Hotels Near Savannah Airport (SAV) and in Pooler: Where to Stay in 2026
By Best of Savannah
Hotels near Savannah airport mostly sit in two clusters: a handful just off the airport grounds and a larger group in Pooler, the fast-growing town along I-95 next to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV). The short answer: stay out here for an early flight, a late arrival, a road trip down I-95, or a tighter budget. Book the Historic District instead if you came to walk the squares, because downtown is about 11 miles away.
Hotel details below come from each property's own site where we could reach it, plus several current booking listings that agree. Checked October 30, 2026. Shuttles, breakfast hours and perks change, so confirm with the hotel before you book.
TL;DR: Hotels Near Savannah Airport
- Closest to the terminal: Hyatt Place Savannah Airport, a few minutes' drive from SAV, with a free airport shuttle on its booking listings.
- Shuttle plus shopping: Holiday Inn & Suites Savannah Airport - Pooler, also listed with a free airport shuttle.
- Most included extras: Drury Plaza Hotel Savannah Pooler, with free hot breakfast, a free evening food-and-drinks hour, free parking and an indoor pool, per Drury's own site.
- Longer stays: Residence Inn Savannah Airport, Marriott's suite-style extended-stay brand, in Pooler.
- Drive to downtown: about 20 to 25 minutes in normal traffic, longer at rush hour and on big event weekends.
Should You Stay Near the Airport or Downtown?
For most first-time visitors, downtown wins. The Historic District is where the squares, River Street and most of the restaurants are, and our walkability guide explains why you can skip the car once you are there. Our where-to-stay neighborhood guide covers the downtown options.
An airport or Pooler hotel makes more sense in a few cases:
- Early departures and late arrivals. Waking up a few minutes from the terminal beats a 5 a.m. ride from downtown.
- Road trips on I-95. Pooler sits right on the interstate, so it is an easy overnight stop between Florida and the Carolinas.
- Peak weekends. When downtown sells out or rates spike, as around St. Patrick's Day, Pooler often has rooms left.
- You have a car anyway. Free parking is common out here, while downtown hotels often charge for it. See our Historic District parking guide for what that costs.
Which Airport Hotels Have a Free Shuttle?
Two of the hotels below list a free airport shuttle: Hyatt Place Savannah Airport and Holiday Inn & Suites Savannah Airport - Pooler. Listings disagree on the exact hours. Most give a window of roughly early morning to midnight, but that is not a guarantee for a 5 a.m. flight or a delayed midnight landing.
Call the front desk the day before. Ask when the first and last runs are, whether you need to book a seat, and where the pickup is at the terminal. If the shuttle cannot make your time, a rideshare or taxi for the short hop is the backup. Our airport-to-downtown guide covers pickup areas and typical fares.
Local tip: If you land late and the shuttle has stopped, call the hotel before you order a rideshare. Some desks will tell you how long until the next run, and the ride to the closest hotels is only a few minutes either way.
Hyatt Place Savannah Airport
Hyatt Place Savannah Airport is at 4 Stephen S. Green Drive. It has a Savannah mailing address but sits right by the airport, and booking listings put it about a four-minute drive from SAV. Several listings show a free airport shuttle starting around 5 a.m., which makes it a natural pick for an early flight. Confirm the current shuttle schedule with the hotel.
Holiday Inn & Suites Savannah Airport - Pooler
This Holiday Inn is at 100 Outlet Parkway in Pooler, in the retail area off I-95. Booking listings show a free airport shuttle. Most give hours of about 6 a.m. to midnight, though one gives 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Ask before you count on it.
It is a practical base if part of the trip is shopping. Our Tanger Outlets Savannah guide covers the outlet center in Pooler, including its hours.
Drury Plaza Hotel Savannah Pooler
Drury Plaza Hotel Savannah Pooler is at 500 East US-80 in Pooler. Drury puts it about four miles from the airport. It has the longest list of included extras here, per the hotel's own site:
- Free hot breakfast daily, with earlier hours on weekdays than weekends.
- The 5:30 Kickback, a free evening spread of hot food and drinks from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with a menu that rotates nightly.
- Free parking during your stay.
- An indoor pool and whirlpool.
Drury's page does not mention an airport shuttle, so plan on a short rideshare or a rental car. For families or anyone watching the budget, the included breakfast and evening food can offset a slightly higher room rate.
Residence Inn Savannah Airport
Residence Inn Savannah Airport is at 900 Towne Center Boulevard in Pooler, near Exit 104 off I-95. Residence Inn is Marriott's extended-stay brand, built around suite-style rooms. That makes it a fit for relocations, work trips, and families staying a week or more.
Listings disagree on whether it runs an airport shuttle. Some say yes and others say no, so ask the hotel directly. Traveling with a dog? Our pet-friendly hotels guide covers what to check about pet fees and rules.

Do You Need a Car If You Stay in Pooler?
Usually, yes. Pooler is built around I-95 and shopping-center roads, not sidewalks between attractions. A shuttle covers the airport run, but dinner, outlet shopping and trips downtown all mean driving or a rideshare each time. Several rides a day add up quickly, so a rental often pays off for a multi-day Pooler stay.
If you do drive downtown, the route is easy: I-16 runs straight into the west side of the Historic District. Park once and walk from there. A rental car also opens up day trips from Savannah like Tybee Island, Beaufort and Jekyll Island.
What Is There to Do Near the Airport?
More than people expect. The big draw is the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force at 175 Bourne Avenue in Pooler. It tells the story of the Eighth Air Force, which was founded in Savannah in 1942. Posted hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m., closed Mondays. Check admission and any holiday closures on mightyeighth.org. Our Savannah museums guide covers the downtown museums if you want to make a day of it.
Pooler is also home to the outlets and a long stretch of chain restaurants. For a better dinner, the 20-to-25-minute drive into town puts the full range of Savannah restaurants within reach. And if you have one free evening, a downtown ghost tour is worth the trip in.
Are Airport Hotels Cheaper Than Downtown?
Often, yes, especially on weekends and during big events when Historic District rates climb. The trade-off is time and transportation. If you save money on the room but pay for rideshares or downtown parking every day, the gap shrinks. Our Savannah on a budget guide has more ways to cut costs. If you decide downtown is worth it after all, start with our best Historic District hotels or browse the full Savannah hotels directory.
Bottom Line: Where to Stay Near Savannah Airport
Book near SAV or in Pooler when the trip is built around a flight, an I-95 drive or a tighter budget. Hyatt Place Savannah Airport and the Holiday Inn & Suites in Pooler both list free airport shuttles. Drury Plaza Pooler packs in the most included extras, and Residence Inn suits longer stays. Confirm shuttle times with the hotel before you rely on them, plan on a car or rideshare for everything else, and save the Historic District for when you want to walk Savannah at its best.
