Luxury Hotels in Savannah: The Best High-End Stays, Compared (2026)
By Best of Savannah
Luxury hotels in Savannah come in a few distinct styles, and the right one depends on where you want to wake up. The short answer: book Perry Lane Hotel for a polished stay in the middle of the squares, the Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront for river views, and the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District if you want restaurants, bars and a rooftop pool without leaving the building. For a quieter, park-side stay, look at Hotel Bardo, the renovated former Mansion on Forsyth Park.
Hotel names, addresses, brands and amenities below were checked against hotel, Michelin Guide and travel-trade listings on November 2, 2026. Rates, pool hours and restaurant hours change often, so confirm them with the hotel before you book.
TL;DR: Savannah Luxury Hotels at a Glance
- Best all-around: Perry Lane Hotel, a Luxury Collection property on East Perry Street with the Peregrin rooftop bar and a rooftop pool.
- Best river views: the Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront, an Autograph Collection hotel on Bay Street above River Street, with the Rocks on the Roof bar.
- Best resort-style stay: the JW Marriott in a converted power plant at Plant Riverside, with a guests-only rooftop pool, a spa and many places to eat.
- Best for a quiet, park-side stay: Hotel Bardo at 700 Drayton Street, on the edge of Forsyth Park.
- Best central location: Andaz Savannah, right on Ellis Square.
- "Five-star" warning: booking sites use their own star labels. They are not Forbes or AAA awards.
What Counts as a "Five-Star" Hotel in Savannah?
If you search for 5 star hotels in Savannah, you will see booking sites put that label on several downtown properties. Those stars are each site's own category. They are not an official rating, and two sites can rate the same hotel differently. One travel site calls Perry Lane four stars while several booking sites list it as five.
A better test is what you actually get: service, room size, a pool or spa, strong on-site dining and a walkable address. Every hotel below scores well on those. All five are in our Savannah luxury hotels directory. If an official award matters to you, check the hotel's own awards page before you book.
Is Perry Lane Hotel Worth the Price?
For most first-time luxury travelers, yes. Perry Lane Hotel sits at 256 E. Perry St., in the heart of the squares, so you can walk to almost everything in the Historic District. It belongs to Marriott's Luxury Collection brand and was the brand's first hotel in Savannah.
The big draw is the roof. The Peregrin rooftop bar serves cocktails and small plates with views over the district, and Marriott's listing describes the rooftop pool as open year-round. Cabanas can be booked for an extra fee.

Which Luxury Hotel Has the Best River Views?
The Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront at 102 W. Bay St. is the pick if watching cargo ships glide past matters to you. It is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection and sits on the bluff above River Street. Rocks on the Roof, its rooftop bar, is one of the most popular sunset spots in town. Rocks on the River, the ground-floor restaurant, handles dinner.
Request a river-view room when you book, and ask about valet rates. Parking downtown adds up fast at any of these hotels.
Is the JW Marriott Plant Riverside a Good Luxury Choice?
Yes, especially if you want a resort feel in the city. The JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District at 400 W. River St. fills a converted early-1900s power plant and anchors the Plant Riverside entertainment district. Marriott lists a rooftop pool reserved for hotel guests. Listings also describe a full-service spa and a 24-hour fitness center.
The complex has many restaurants and bars, including the Electric Moon rooftop lounge. One review says Electric Moon is 21 and over after 6 p.m., so families should plan rooftop time earlier. The lobby's gem and fossil displays are a hit with kids. Read our Plant Riverside District guide before you go.
The trade-off is energy. This is a busy, lively place, and live music and rooftop crowds can carry into the evening. If you want calm, pick one of the next two.
What Happened to Mansion on Forsyth Park?
The grand hotel at 700 Drayton St. is now Hotel Bardo Savannah. Hotelier Richard Kessler sold the property to the New York developer Left Lane for $52.5 million in 2022, according to trade reports. Left Lane then renovated and rebranded it. Booking listings say the renovation was finished in early 2024, and our directory listing still uses the old name.
The setting is the same: the hotel sits on the east edge of Forsyth Park, a few blocks south of the busiest squares. The Michelin Guide highlights Saint Bibiana, its coastal Italian restaurant. Listings also mention an outdoor pool and a spa. Because the hotel changed hands and names, older reviews of the Mansion may not describe today's rooms or restaurants, so check recent reviews.
It suits travelers who want a quieter base, morning walks in the park and a short walk, rather than a stumble, to the bars.
Where Can You Stay in the Middle of Everything?
Andaz Savannah, Hyatt's lifestyle brand, sits at 14 Barnard St. on Ellis Square. City Market is a block away, and River Street is a short walk downhill. Listings describe a pool terrace with cabanas and a fitness center.
The central spot has one catch. A review notes that rooms facing Ellis Square or the pool terrace can pick up noise, especially on weekends. Ask for a quieter room if you are a light sleeper.
Which Other High-End Hotels Should You Consider?
Two newer hotels are not yet in our directory, but they compete for the same travelers:
- Thompson Savannah (201 Port St.) opened in 2021 in the Eastern Wharf development, at the east end of downtown. It is Hyatt's first Thompson hotel in Georgia. Bar Julian, on the 13th floor, is often called the city's tallest rooftop bar, and Fleeting is the signature restaurant.
- The Alida, Savannah (412 Williamson St.) is a Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel next to Plant Riverside. The Lost Square rooftop bar and the Rhett restaurant both face the river.
Rooftops are a big part of the luxury scene here. Our rooftop bars guide compares Peregrin, Rocks on the Roof, The Lost Square and more.
Local tip: Visiting between November and March? If a pool matters, ask before you book. Marriott's listing says Perry Lane's rooftop pool is open year-round, but one listing for Thompson Savannah shows its pool closed November through March. A heated pool on a sunny 65-degree winter afternoon is one of Savannah's best off-season perks.
How Do You Choose the Right Luxury Hotel?
- Couples and honeymooners: Perry Lane or Hotel Bardo. Our romantic hotels guide and Savannah honeymoon guide add more options.
- Families: the JW Marriott, for the pool, the displays and the many places to eat on site.
- River lovers: the Bohemian, or The Alida a few blocks west.
- Walk-everywhere sightseers: Andaz or Perry Lane.
- Travelers with dogs: pet rules vary by hotel and change often. Start with our pet-friendly hotels guide, then confirm with the hotel.
If you want character over polish, our boutique hotels guide covers smaller inns and converted warehouses. For a wider ranking of every price point, see the best hotels in the Historic District. Not sure which part of town fits? Our where to stay in Savannah guide breaks it down by neighborhood.
Bottom Line
Savannah does not have a long list of luxury hotels, which makes choosing easier. Perry Lane is the safest all-around pick. The Bohemian wins on river views, and the JW Marriott wins on amenities. Hotel Bardo is the calm, park-side option, and Andaz puts you on Ellis Square. Ignore the "five-star" labels on booking sites, pick the location that fits your trip, and confirm current rates, pool hours and parking before you book.
