Alley Cat Lounge: Savannah's Basement Cocktail Bar on Broughton Lane

By Best of Savannah

Updated October 22, 2026. Alley Cat Lounge is a basement cocktail bar at 207 W Broughton Lane in Savannah. The homepage heading reads "Savannah's hidden gem." The page description calls it "a classy 1870's hidden gem basement bar" and says it highlights a library of spirits and cocktails, with house made syrups, sodas, teas, and infusions. That 1870's line is the site's wording. This page does not treat it as a separately verified construction date. The practical facts are the address, the hours, the posted menu, and how little the site says about the door.

Facts below come from alleycatsavannah.com, the contact page, the drinks page, the food page, and the private-events page. Checked October 22, 2026. Hours and prices can change. If a line on two pages disagrees, both lines are printed below.

Alley Cat Lounge at a glance

  • Address: 207 W Broughton Lane, Savannah, GA 31401. The ZIP is on the contact page. The homepage prints the lane address and calls the bar a basement.
  • Neighborhood: Savannah Historic District, on the lane behind Broughton Street. That placement is from the OpenStreetMap address for the house pin, checked October 22, 2026.
  • Hours on the homepage: Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday closed.
  • Hours on the contact page: Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday closed. Friday is not restated there.
  • Seating: first come first serve, in the site's words. Parties of 20 or more can request a private or shared event. A request is not a confirmation.
  • Phone: none is printed on the homepage, contact page, menu pages, or private-events page. Email on the site is info@alleycatsavannah.com.
  • Prices: the HTML drinks list runs $14 to $20. The HTML food list runs $8 to $15. Checked October 22, 2026.

How to find Alley Cat Lounge

The address is a lane, not a Broughton Street storefront. West Broughton Lane runs behind Broughton Street in the Historic District. The site tells you it is a basement at 207 W Broughton Lane. It does not publish a photo of the door, a landmark for the doorway, or a turn-by-turn walk from the sidewalk. Do not follow a guessed "look for the unmarked black door" instruction. Use the address the site prints, and ask on the lane if the entrance is not obvious.

A street route measured October 22, 2026, from the OpenStreetMap house pin for 207 West Broughton Lane (32.0793180, -81.0944785) to the Bull Street and Broughton Street intersection was 284 meters, or 0.18 miles. The router reported about 42 seconds for that same route. That clock time matches driving speed, so it is not a walk time. At 3 miles per hour, 0.18 miles is about 4 minutes. The straight-line distance between the same two points is 242 meters, or 0.15 miles, about 3 minutes at the same pace. Bull and Broughton is the shared point where West Broughton Street and East Broughton Street meet Bull Street. The bar is west of that corner, on the lane.

Kress Building on West Broughton Street in Savannah, not Alley Cat Lounge
This photo shows the Kress Building at 120-122 West Broughton Street, on Broughton Street. It is not Alley Cat Lounge and not its entrance. The bar is a basement on West Broughton Lane, behind the Broughton Street storefronts. Photo by Myotus, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY 4.0.

Broughton Street itself is the downtown shopping street. If you are already walking the shops, the lane is the block behind those storefronts, a few minutes from Bull Street. Our Savannah shopping guide covers Broughton, City Market, and River Street as a daytime route. Our walkability guide is the broader map of what you can do on foot in the Historic District. Neither of those pages is a substitute for the lane address.

Hours, and the Friday line that does not match

Use the homepage as the fuller hours statement. Checked October 22, 2026, it reads Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday closed. The contact page, checked the same day, reads Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday closed. Friday is missing from that contact block. This page does not invent a reason for the gap. If you are going on a Friday, the homepage is the page that names Friday, and it puts Friday with Saturday at 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Sunday is closed on both pages. Do not plan a Sunday night stop and expect the door to be open. There is no holiday calendar on these pages, so a regular Sunday closure is not the same thing as a printed Christmas or Thanksgiving schedule. The site does not list holiday exceptions here.

The hours are opening and closing times, not a last-call time and not a crowd forecast. Nothing on the official pages says which night is busy, whether there is a line, or how long a wait runs. This guide does not add that. The useful planning fact is the clock: the bar is an evening and late-night stop, it opens at 4 p.m., and it is dark on Sunday.

The schema hours on this page follow the homepage: Monday through Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., and Friday and Saturday 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Sunday is omitted from the hours property because the site marks it closed, and the Friday gap on the contact page is explained in the text above.

What is on the drinks menu

The HTML drinks page checked October 22, 2026 lists five cocktails, with ingredients and prices. That is the list this guide uses. The same page links a PDF labeled Full Menu. The PDF is an image file, and this guide does not transcribe it. If the PDF and the HTML list ever differ, the HTML list below is what was readable on the check date. Open the drinks page before you go.

  • Sion Hill Highball, $20. Mizu Lemongrass Shochu, Aqua Perfecta Basil, yuzu, lime, carbonation.
  • Fig'et About it, $18. Fig leaf infused bourbon, Empirical Symphony 6, honey, ginger, lemon. The apostrophe is the site's spelling.
  • Snake Oil, $18. Rittenhouse rye, China-China, lemon, lemon-lime, oleo, ginger juice.
  • A Las Abejas les Encanta el Agave, $18. Chamomile, Cimmaron Reposado, tequila, lemon, honey. "Cimmaron" is the spelling on the menu.
  • The Doctor Is In, $14. Ritual Whiskey Replacement, marked NA on the menu, Lucano Amaro, carrot, toasted almond, lemon.

The Doctor Is In is the only drink in that list marked NA. It is still $14, and it still sits on a cocktail menu next to four drinks with alcohol. The page does not spell out a broader zero-proof list. Do not assume every ingredient on the other four drinks has a non-alcoholic swap.

Drinks named in older write-ups, including Senor Presidenta, Matcha Mojo, and High Ball for High Rollers, are not on this HTML list. They are left off on purpose. The homepage does print guest comments. One comment calls the menu a comic-style newspaper and mentions absinthe. Another calls the menu a newspaper. Those sentences are the guests' words on the homepage, not a line on the drinks list checked October 22, 2026. Absinthe is not one of the five cocktails above.

The drinks page also carries the standard notice that consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase the risk of foodborne illness. The five cocktails above do not list those foods. The notice is still on the page.

What is on the food menu

The site does have a food page. The page title is Alley Eats. Under the heading "A diverse range of flavorful bites," the HTML list checked October 22, 2026 has three items:

  • Marinated olives, $8. Castelvetrano and Kalamata olives, rosemary, thyme, garlic, lemon zest, and crushed red pepper.
  • Labneh-stuffed mini peppers, $15. Roasted sweet peppers with labneh, mozzarella, Kalamata olives, parsley, and sumac.
  • Hummus, $12. Chickpeas, tahini, lemon, and garlic, finished with olive oil, paprika, and parsley, served with pita chips.

That is a small-plate list, not a printed dinner menu. The food page does not show entrees, a brunch, or a kids' menu. The same raw-or-undercooked notice appears on the food page. If you want a full meal before or after the bar, use our Savannah restaurants directory and pick a table nearby, then walk. Prices above are what the food page showed on October 22, 2026, and they can change.

When to go, and whether you can reserve

Plan from the hours and the seating line, not from a crowd claim. The bar opens at 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is closed Sunday. Monday through Thursday it lists a 1 a.m. close. Friday and Saturday, on the homepage, it lists a 2 a.m. close. That is the whole timing guide the site supports.

The homepage says the bar runs on a first come first serve basis. It also says the bar is available for private events and shared events, and that larger parties of 20 or more can submit a request in advance. The private-events page repeats the first-come line and adds that the form is a request only, not a confirmation. Staff reply by email. The page asks you to check a spam folder if you have no reply within 72 hours. There is no phone number on that form. For a pair or a small group, the published policy is walk-in. For 20 or more, send the request and wait for the email. Do not treat the form as a held table.

The site does not print an age policy, a dress code, or a cover charge. Those are left out. It also does not print a reservation button for ordinary parties. If you are building a date around one reserved table, book dinner somewhere that takes a reservation, and treat Alley Cat as the walk-in stop. Our Savannah date-night guide is the wider plan for that kind of evening.

What to do nearby

Broughton Lane sits in the part of downtown where a night can stay on foot. A cocktail here is one stop, not the whole evening. If you want the night without building it around bars, our guide to Savannah at night besides bars covers walks, river cruises, and other evening plans. If you do leave one bar and walk to another with a drink, the Historic District to-go rules are specific: one drink, a plastic or paper cup of 16 ounces or less, no glass. Read our to-go cup guide before you count on walking out with a glass. This page does not claim Alley Cat pours to-go cups. The site does not say.

For a guided drinks walk rather than one basement bar, the on-site list of cocktail and brewery tours is at cocktail and brewery food tours. That is a directory of tour operators, not a ticket sold on this page. Dinner before the 4 p.m. opening is the restaurants directory linked above. Shopping on the street in front of the lane is the shopping guide. None of those pages replace the hours on alleycatsavannah.com.
