A walk with a ride from downtown, an hour on a golf cart, or a longer walk that meets at the gate. Prices and ratings below are Viator's.
Bonaventure sits on a bluff of the Wilmington River, east of downtown. The City of Savannah puts the entrance at 330 Bonaventure Road and describes more than 100 acres. People come for Little Gracie Watson's statue, the Mercer and Aiken plots, and the moss. A first walk from the gate often misses most of that. A guide is the fix.
The Bird Girl from the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil cover is not in the cemetery. Telfair Museums says the sculpture has been on loan to the museum since 1997, after visitors overwhelmed the family plot. It has moved between Telfair buildings, so check the museum before you detour downtown to see it.
Viator from-prices, ratings, and review counts were checked on October 16, 2026, for departures between November 1 and December 15, 2026. The walking tour with a downtown ride starts at $48.00 and is rated 4.98 from 1,630 reviews. The golf cart starts at $38.00 and has the most reviews in this set, 1,860 at 4.90. The lowest from-price is $24.99.

The 2-hour-45-minute walk is the one to book if you are staying downtown and do not have a car. The guide picks up in the Historic and Victorian districts about 20 minutes before the tour, or you can meet the group at 330 Bonaventure Road. Pickup is not offered south of Victory Drive. The listing includes bottled water, bug spray, and an umbrella, and it shows 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. options. The shared group cap is 15. From $48.00, rated 4.98 from 1,630 reviews, the highest rating in this set. Check the walking tour with transportation.
The golf cart is 60 minutes and meets at the Bonaventure visitor car park. There is no downtown ride on this listing, so you still need a way to the gate. The shared-tour cap is 10. Infants sit on a lap. From $38.00, rated 4.90 from 1,860 reviews. That is the largest review count here, a notch below the walking-with-a-ride rating. Choose it when the oaks and the river bluff are the point and a mile on foot is not. Check the golf cart tour.
Shannon Scott's 2-hour tour is the art, symbol, and film walk. The listing talks about grave sculpture, religious and other symbols, birds on the bluff, and Bonaventure as a filming location, including the Midnight story. Hotel pickup is excluded. Viator asks for at least moderate fitness and notes uneven surfaces if you use a wheelchair. The group cap is 30. From $30.00, rated 4.89 from 893 reviews. Check the art and symbols tour.
The 90-minute daytime walk is the budget ticket: from $24.99, rated 4.60 from 239 reviews. It meets at the cemetery. It is the short option when you already have a ride to the gate and want a guide rather than a map. Check the 90-minute walk.
The 2-hour walking tour is a different listing. From $36.00, rated 4.79 from 1,431 reviews. You meet at the visitor restrooms. Parking is included for the length of the tour. Transportation is not. The page says to expect up to about a mile and at least moderate fitness, and that the tour runs in all weather unless conditions are dangerous, with umbrellas on request. Viator flags the product as private and also says the maximum is 30 travelers. Those two lines do not mean the same thing. Read the booking page for your date and confirm whether the group is yours alone. Check the 2-hour walk.
None of these five tours continues to Wormsloe. If you want the oak avenue the same day, drive yourself and leave the cemetery with time to spare before the 5:00 p.m. gate close. Our Wormsloe Historic Site guide covers the avenue, the ruins, and how long to allow.
The City of Savannah cemetery page says the gate is open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The address is 330 Bonaventure Road, Savannah, GA 31404. The city does not publish an admission price on that page. The Bonaventure Historical Society describes entry as free. Section maps are on the city site.
On October 16, 2026, the society listed its visitor center as open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with most weekdays added and the hours subject to change. It also listed a free tour at 1:00 p.m. on the second weekend of the month. That start time is marked as new on July 1, 2026. The society describes small parking areas by the gates and pull-offs on the wider roads. This is an active cemetery. Funerals still happen. Stay on the roads, keep voices down near services, and be out by 5:00 p.m. Our Bonaventure Cemetery guide has the longer visiting notes.
The ghost reputation follows the novel and the film more than any rule posted at the gate. Bonaventure is an active city cemetery, open in daylight, and the tours on this page are walks through its history and sculpture.
For evening ghost tours downtown, see Savannah ghost tours.
The golf cart listing is 60 minutes. The lowest-priced walk is 90 minutes. Shannon Scott’s art tour and the 2-hour walking tour are both 2 hours. The downtown pickup tour is 2 hours 45 minutes, and that clock includes the ride. On your own, the grounds are more than 100 acres, so an hour near the gate is only a sample.
Yes. The City of Savannah says the gate at 330 Bonaventure Road is open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The city page does not list an admission fee. The Bonaventure Historical Society also describes entry as free, and on October 16, 2026 its site listed the visitor center as open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with most weekdays added and hours subject to change. More on walking it yourself is in our Bonaventure Cemetery guide.
You need a car, a rideshare, or a tour that includes the ride. The cemetery is east of downtown on the Wilmington River, not in the Historic District. The Bonaventure Historical Society describes small parking areas beside the entry gates, another near the start of the historical section, and pull-offs on the wider roads. The walking tour with transportation will pick up in the downtown Historic and Victorian districts, and the guide says pickup is not available south of Victory Drive. The golf cart, Shannon Scott, the 2-hour walk, and the 90-minute walk all meet at the cemetery.
The gate opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m., so late afternoon is a hard cutoff no matter which tour you book. Morning departures leave more of the day if you are also going to Wormsloe. Summer afternoons on the bluff are hot, and the oaks do not shade every road. The society’s free tour, when it is running, is listed at 1:00 p.m. on the second weekend of the month. That time changed on July 1, 2026, and the society says the schedule can change.
Viator allows every tour on this page to be canceled for bad weather, with a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before departure. The 2-hour walking tour also says it operates in all weather unless conditions are dangerous, and that umbrellas are available on request. The downtown pickup tour includes an umbrella. Wear shoes you can get wet, and read the cancellation line on the listing you book.
